Our Chef

We are delighted to welcome Jonathan Elvin to The Grange as our new Head Chef.

Jonathan is a young ambitious extraordinarily talented Michelin star trained chef with a considerable amount of experience.
Jonathan studied at Leeds Catering College then served his apprenticeship in a number of established locally acclaimed West Yorkshire restaurants before joining Claridges, London, one of Gordon Ramsay’s owned/managed restaurants.
When just 19 he moved to Oslo to work in one of the country’s acclaimed award winning 2 Michelin star restaurants, Bagatelle,  under the tuition of Eyvind Hellstrom acknowledged as one of the countries and continents foremost celebrity chefs.
His career then took him to Palma Majorca to work alongside Marc Fosche at Reads Hotel.
Returning to his grass roots Jonathan joined the team at Millers @ Glencot House in Somerset as Head Chef. He won regional and celebrity acclaim for his creative menus and put Millers on the culinary map.
In 2009 Jonathan decided to move back to Yorkshire and worked as a senior Sous Chef at the Michelin star restaurant The Star in Harome before taking up the role as Head Chef at The Claret in Harrogate.
Jonathan revels in the use of fresh local seasonal produce and game, producing innovative and exciting British based seasonal menus and dishes with a modern and continental twist.
