After completing my studies in hospitality I worked in some super hotels in The Lake District before joining The Grange a few months ahead of opening, approximately 24 years ago. Life then took me to London, amongst other things opening restaurants and organising catering for blue chip clients in the city and the west end. After a few years in human resources whilst bringing up a family I felt ready to venture back into the Hotel Industry and all that it entails. It’s great to be back at The Grange as GM and to work with such a fabulous team. One that really cares about our guests and the place in which they work.

Will Nicol - Head Chef
I trained firstly in Ayrshire then was invited to join the team at Dunkeld House Hotel in Perthshire. This is where I first started to learn to make use of the local larder, and in the spring and summer we would use wild herbs and flowers in our cooking. After five fantastic years I ventured south of the border to Dorset and Summer Lodge, and then still further south to Cannes and the Hotel Martinez. I moved to Yorkshire and Oulton Hall Hotel and enjoyed 17 happy years seven of which were as head chef. I have now taken on the role as head chef at The Grange where I’ve built a fantastic and diverse team enabling the creation of some inspirational dishes whilst maintaining a classical French influence.
Helen Smith - Sales & Marketing Manager
I was first employed at The Grange Hotel as Food and Beverage Manger in 2007. I had enjoyed my time over the years but it was the warmth and kindness of the owners that made me return to the hotel after the birth of my daughter. Since then, and after 15 years in catering, an opportunity to work in sales and marketing was offered and I enjoy every day. At The Grange we accommodate business and leisure needs alike, with our attention to detail and friendly qualities we can deliver a truly personal service.
