Let me reassure you…..
To prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus, The Grange Hotel has put the following procedures and new standards in place to limit the potential for exposure for both residents and staff members alike.
Whilst adapting our working practices in line with government advice, we are committed to maintaining our already high standards without compromising either hygiene or safety. You can be assured of our usual warmest of Yorkshire welcomes!
All guests and staff members are expected to keep at least one metre distant where possible and we will be limiting the number of people in each area at anyone time. Our hotel was built as 2 private houses in 1829 and alas not all our corridors and stairways allow for strict social distancing. Please be patient!
We are all duty bound to wear face coverings throughout the hotel. Please note, several of my team are medically exempt and will continue to wear a visor when front of house. If you would prefer not to be served by them, please make the Duty Manager aware.
We have been tasked by the government to keep a record of all guests for a period of 21 days to assist with their Track and Trace programme if required. Your details shall be held in strictest confidence in line with our GDPR protocols. Please scan the QR code when you arrive.
When making your reservation
We understand these are uncertain times, therefore we always recommend booking direct with us to take advantage of the most favourable and flexible cancellation terms.
Before you arrive
We do ask that you do not travel if you have any of the symptoms associated with Covid-19, or have been in contact with anyone who displays symptoms.
The Grange App
We are working on this at present and indeed hope to be live shortly. We encourage all guests to download the app to their smartphones as this will give instant access to all hotel information, including our menus and wine list, as well as guidance on how to make the most of your time in our great city.
We will be requesting all required details in advance to minimise the time spent at Reception on arrival.
Hand sanitising stations are available at each entrance, by the Tapestry Bar, the Ivy Brasserie, the Drawing Room and each lift landing.
Where possible, we ask that all guests take responsibility for their own luggage. However help will always be available if needed and our porters will accompany you as far as your bedroom door.
Throughout Your Stay
The frequency of all public area and back of house cleaning and the sanitising of all hard surfaces and popular touch points has significantly increased with antiviral “fogging” taking place daily. Each bedroom is subject to the same rigorous regime and will be thoroughly disinfected after use. We use a range of Ecolab chemicals tested to BS EN 14476.
For your peace of mind, your room will not be routinely serviced daily unless requested. Do let us know if you require any fresh towels or bathroom supplies and we’ll deliver them to your room.
Windows will be opened whenever possible to increase ventilation.
Residents are requested to use their own en-suite bathroom, rather than the public lavatories, where possible.
We recommend our guests use the staircases. However both lifts will be operating as usual. Each may carry upto 4 persons from the same household. We do ask that all guests use the sanitiser provided before entering and upon leaving the lift.
All printed materials and excess soft furnishings have been removed.
Request an electronic copy of your invoice for a seamless departure.
Food and Beverage
We will continue to seat guests in their household bubbles. However, at present, it is not permissible for households to mix indoors.
Dining tables, bar tops, stools and chairs shall be sanitised after each use. High frequency touch points shall be subject to the same enhanced cleaning regime.
We will be offering table service for all food and drinks requested. If you are not happy for us to serve you, please let us know and we will place the items on a side table for you to collect.
The Morning Room Bar shall be open throughout the day for morning coffee, light lunches, afternoon tea, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages.
The Ivy Brasserie shall be open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. To help maintain social distancing, we will be allocating timings for each service and we ask that all our guests adhere to their allotted times. In line with government legislation, our bars and restaurant shall close at 10 pm each evening.
Menus may be downloaded via the Grange App (when live) and single use copies will be also be available.
Room service orders can be made by telephone and shall be delivered to your bedroom. We shall leave the tray at the bedroom door and we ask that you notify Reception when it will be convenient to retrieve it, again from outside the room, when finished.
Our menu range may be smaller at present, but we’ll extend it as soon as practically possible.
All condiments shall be served in single use sachets.
To minimise physical contact, the use of cash is discouraged. If you can, please pay by card. Our machines will be regularly sanitised.
Prioritising the safety of our team not only safeguards their health, but also the well being of the guests they encounter on a daily basis.
Prior to their return to work, all staff have undergone training on our new protocols. Daily briefings with HODs re-enforce these revised codes of practice.
We do ask that any employee who develops any symptoms of Covid-19, or if any member of their household develops any symptoms, they must not attend work. Anyone falling ill whilst at work, will be sent home immediately.
All employees are provided with gloves and face coverings as standard, the housekeepers can also access single use plastic aprons and goggles. All contractors are monitored to ensure the correct PPE is used.
We recommend all uniforms are washed daily at a minimum of 60 C. More delicate fabrics must be left for at least 3 days before laundering.
A system is in place to enable any member of staff to raise any concerns directly with the General Manager.
